JOHNSON, AR (August 14, 2020) - Final round results of the 48th Southern Junior Championship of the Southern Golf Association hosted by Blessings Golf Club in Johnson, AR on Friday, August 14, 2020 (7063 yards, par 36—36—72, 75.8/152).

Thomas “Tommy” Morrison of Dallas, Texas fired a 12-under 204 to claim the 48th Southern Junior Championship title. He led wire to wire, posting a four-under 68 in the final round. “I was in the same situation last year, leading the first two rounds,” Morrison said. “It’s been a while since I won a tournament, so it feels really good to pull off a win.”
Carter Loflin of Duluth, Georgia carded a three-under 69 in the final round to finish in second place at eight-under 208. ”Blessings Golf Club is a really great test to your game, and it will expose you if you’re doing anything wrong,” Loflin said. “It was a good day on a hard golf course.”
Matthew Comegys of Plano, TX electrified the course shooting the lowest score of the Championship, a nine-under 63. Comegys round vaulted him into third place with a score of four-under 212. His 10-foot putt for eagle on No. 6 sparked his momentum to carry out five more birdies (Nos. 11, 12, 13, 16, 18), following his two birdies on Nos. 2 & 3. “Well, it was a solid week,” Comegys said. “Definitely hit a lot of greens and finished strong. I can take a lot of confidence off this tournament, and hopefully I’ll play well throughout the rest of this year.” The state of Texas claimed the State Team Competition title with a total score of 567.
