BIRMINGHAM, AL (December 19, 2018) – David Micheluzzi of Australia has been named SGA Amateur of the Month Presented by Global Golf Post for November 2018 by the Southern Golf Association (SGA).
The 22-year-old’s month was highlighted by a couple of high finishes on the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia. He placed T5 at the Emirates Australian Open played at The Lakes Golf Club in Eastlakes sharing low amateur honors with Japan’s Keita Nakajima after posting a score of 280 (-8).
One week earlier, Micheluzzi finished T14 at the AV Jennings NSW Open played at Twin Creeks Golf and Country Club in Luddenham where he carded a 277 (-11).
He is currently the sixth ranked Amateur in the World according to the Scratch Players World Amateur Rankings (SPWAR) and seventh in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
Winners of the SGA’s monthly award are determined by an international panel of golf officials, coaches and journalists. Now in its 14th season, notable recipients have been Bill Haas, Michelle Wie, Hunter Mahan, Ryan Moore, J. B. Holmes, Webb Simpson, Rhys Davies, Kyle Stanley, Kevin Fortin-Simard, Rickie Fowler, Danny Lee, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Alice Hewson, and more recently Cole Hammer and Jovan Rebula.
The SGA supports amateur golf at the highest level, including staging of the storied Southern Amateur, as well as the Southern Junior Championship.
