BIRMINGHAM, AL (June 25, 2018) – Broc Everett, a 23-year-old graduated senior at Augusta, has been named Amateur of the Month for May by the Southern Golf Association (SGA).
Everett, a native of West Des Moines, IA, won the 2018 NCAA Division I Men’s Championship individual title at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, OK with a score of 281 (-7). He defeated Auburn’s Brandon Mancheno on the first playoff hole. The title was the first collegiate event won by Everett in his career.
The left-hander turned professional immediately following the NCAA’s and is competing on the Mackenzie (Canadian) Tour this summer.
Winners of the SGA’s monthly award are determined by an international panel of golf officials, coaches and journalists. Now in its 14th season, notable recipients have been Bill Haas, Michelle Wie, Hunter Mahan, Ryan Moore, J. B. Holmes, Webb Simpson, Rhys Davies, Kyle Stanley, Kevin Fortin-Simard, Rickie Fowler, Danny Lee, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Alice Hewson, and more recently Doc Redman & Doug Ghim.
The SGA supports amateur golf at the highest level, including staging of the storied Southern Amateur, as well as the Southern Junior Championship.
