ALEXANDER CITY, AL (June 13, 2017) – Seventeen-year-old Ethan Hagood of Birmingham has taken a two-stroke lead over Kyle Cox of Carrollton, Texas, J.P. Cave of Mobile, and Trey Bosco of Austin, Texas, after the first round of the 45th Southern Junior Championship. The three-day event is being played at Willow Point Golf & Country Club in Alexander City, Alabama.
The field consists of 160 players from seven countries and 18 U.S. States and includes the following Willow Point G&CC members:
Wilson Andress and Luke Dasher of Macon, Georgia; Matt Brown, Tripp Law, and Johnny Nathan of Birmingham Alabama; and Mac Scott of Winter Garden, Florida.
The Southern Junior (
#SouthernJr
), a 54-hole stroke play tournament, is open to male amateurs who have reached their 14th birthday by the start of play and have not yet had their 19th birthday, have a USGA Handicap Index of 12.4 or less and are not members of a college golf team. Following the conclusion of Wednesday’s Round, the field will be cut to 66 players and ties. Please visit our website for full results and pairings. The Junior Champion will have his name added to the prestigious Perry Adair Trophy, which is housed at the Southern Golf Association Headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama.
