Australian Cameron Davis Named September's Amateur of the Month



After strong performances throughout the month of September, 21- year old Australian, Cameron Davis has been named Amateur of the Month by the Southern Golf Association (SGA).
 
The Aussie began his run by winning the individual title at the World Amateur Teams Championship in Mexico, which also earned him a spot in the field at the PGA TOUR’s Mayakoba Classic next month.
 
He then went on to capture the individual title with a two-stroke lead over the SGA’s Amateur of the Month for September, Curtis Luck, at the Eisenhower Trophy, where Davis was part of the three-man team to win the Eisenhower Trophy by 19-strokes, Australia’s first triumph in 20 years as the world’s top amateur team.
 
Davis is playing in the Queensland Open as a professional next week before coming to the States for stage two of the Web.com TOUR Qualifying School. Davis elected to turn professional earlier turn professional.
 
Winners of the SGA’s monthly award are determined by a blue-ribbon national panel of golf officials, coaches and journalists. Now in its 14th season, notable recipients have been Bill Haas, Michelle Wie, Hunter Mahan, Ryan Moore, J. B. Holmes, Webb Simpson, Rhys Davies, Kyle Stanley, Kevin Fortin- Simard, Rickie Fowler, Danny Lee, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Alice Hewson, and more recently Lee McCoy and Aaron Wise.
